UNIVERSALFHIR is a software suite which transfers health data globally via secure NHS Digital accredited links. It allows Interoperability between virtually every health organisation irrespective of what systems are being connected or what type of data is being transferred.
As the name suggests it can handle the latest HL7 FHIR Standards.
It is used extensively in the NHS and other health settings and is owned and supported by Cambridge Data Engineering Limited - leaders in Interoperability software.
The Booking and Referral Standard (BaRS) is an interoperability standard for healthcare IT systems that enables booking and referral information to be sent between NHS service providers quickly, safely and in a format that is useful to clinicians. It will eventually be available in all care settings.
The Transfer of Care Initiative aims to improve patient care by promoting and encouraging the use of standards, combined within NHS Digital defined Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to achieve interoperability of systems across different care settings.

The Shared Care Record is an NHS Digital initiative designed to aggregate NHS and other medical data in a centralised location. UNIVERSALFHIR can be deployed in any scenario to link Trusts with the local SCR.

From a technical viewpoint UniversalFHIR transfers data completely securely end to end via AES-256 encryption. It can also use NHS Digitals own secure systems such as MESH.
It also is part of the NHS process acredited Data Secuirty and Protection Toolkit essencial for complying with NHS IG guidelines.
Its Transfer of Care application is the first in the country to be company accredited by NHS Digital for transferring FHIR structured data between Trusts and GP systems.
UNIVERSALFHIR is hosted on Microsoft Azure . This means it is protected via Microsofts' own security infrastructure.
It can also be hosted on clients premises within a firewall protected private cloud.
UNIVERSALFHIR is able to connect to all the major NHS Systems.
